ANPR Parking Systems

Automatic Number Plate Recognition, with an integrated CCTV camera system, is a popular choice for many private car parks. The camera is usually placed at the entrance/exit of the car park. It records the number plate and saves the data with other relevant information. This data can be used in numerous ways, to provide the best solution for your car park.

Using advanced automatic vehicle registration recognition system cameras, which operate in conjunction with complex algorithms and infrared technology, we can ensure angled, mirrored plates and personalised plates do not impair the ability to detect and interpret each registration plate, no matter the time of day or weather. Plates are captured at entry and exit and images are securely saved and time stamped – vehicles identified to be in breach of the car parks terms and conditions are then processed and ownership details are gained.

After entering the car park, vehicle owners will be required to enter their registration number into a ticketing machine to validate their arrival. Some car parks will require payment or permission validation (known as a permit) via a smartphone app or on premise tablet.

ANPR cameras work in conjunction with purchased parking tickets or permits, to ensure vehicles do not outstay their allotted parking time or park without permission.

A car park barrier system is most often used at car parks, where there is a high volume of vehicles using the parking premises. It is also effective at service yards, to allow easy access for white-listed vehicles. As such, ANPR systems can be altered to meet your car park requirements, or even integrated with your own, existing car parking system.

How our ANPR systems work

We carry out a site evaluation and install car park signs and cameras at the entrance and exit of your car park, to ensure high-quality image recordings of all vehicles entering and exiting your premises.

ANPR systems (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) are very hi-tech. Our cameras are connected to the control office via fibre-optic internet. The camera will take an image of every vehicle entering/exiting the car park and send it through to be processed by our software. The ANPR system will recognise the vehicle registration and save the data and it will identify if any vehicles have breached the parking rules set out. If an offending vehicle is identified, we will contact the DVLA to request the registered keeper’s details and send the ANPR Parking Charge Notice (PCN) by post.

Here are a few solutions an ANPR parking system can efficiently and effectively provide:

  • Pay on Foot

Provide a ticketless payment option for motorists. Their vehicle registration details are recorded at the entry. When the motorist chooses to leave, he/she enters their registration number on the machine to pay.

  • Maximum Stay

Vehicle registration details and the time is recorded, when the vehicle enters and exits the car park. If the recorded information shows that a vehicle has exceeded the stated maximum stay period, the relevant enforcement action will be taken.

  • Authorised Vehicles Only

The ANPR parking management system will recognise authorised vehicles that enter your premises. Drivers of any vehicles, who are not on the whitelist and attempting to access your car park, will be subject to enforcement action being taken.

  • Customer Parking Only

If your ANPR car park is for your customers only, this is the best option for you. Every car is logged, at the entrance using an ANPR camera. Typically, there will be an iPad at your kiosk, which will allow motorists to key in their vehicle registration details. Any drivers not visiting your store will not be able to register their vehicle registration numbers, making them liable for a parking charge.

  • ANPR Barrier / Access Control System

Barriers, gates or other access control systems can be controlled using the ANPR camera. If a car approaches the entrance, the camera will read the number plate and allow access to authorised vehicles. Any unauthorised vehicles will not be allowed to pass through the barrier.

  • Traffic/Parking Management

If you need to direct a vehicle to a certain location or improve traffic flow in your car park, an ANPR system will help you to achieve both of these objectives smoothly and quickly.
